Software Engineer
Leading product delivery across retail compliance and grant application domains — which means spending a lot of time at the boundary between what engineers build and what stakeholders actually need. Built AI-assisted tooling that the whole org now uses: automated PR review, test-generation harnesses, workflow automations. Also started the Better Engineering initiative, which is a recurring program for improving how the team thinks about the craft, not just the output.

SmartSpot Solutions
Java Backend Engineer
Built and maintained Spring Boot microservices on GCP for two products — a POS system for Kenyan SMEs and a logistics platform for real-time delivery tracking. The work I'm most proud of: a reusable payment platform integrating M-Pesa and Paystack that let multiple products share one integration instead of each solving it from scratch. Also the subscription service that handled regional pricing, grace periods, and branch-based tenancy without becoming unmaintainable.

Software Developer
Built the company's primary web platform from requirements to deployment. Outside of the product work, I spent time running technical community initiatives — interest groups around blockchain and decentralized systems. It was an early lesson in what it means to shape engineering culture, not just write code.

Software Developer Intern
First professional role. Built a Leave Management System in Python and Django that replaced paper-based workflows across the organization — cut processing time by 80%. There's something clarifying about solving a problem that people have lived with for years. The paper existed for a reason; the software had to earn its replacement.
